The Haverford Dragons saved their best for last Sunday as they wrapped up their participation in the West-Mont Battle at Hilltop with a 4-1 victory over Wilson Bulldogs.
The arrival of the Bradley Brothers, Conor and Shane, was crucial to the cause, as was a less demanding schedule on the day given Saturday's weather.
The Dragons will be looking to take as many positives from the day as possible, including the historical fact that last year the team only won one match at the same tournament but then went on to an undefeated season in the league, including the Delco U-10 Division Three title.
Whether the fall of 2007 follows suit remains to be seen, but hope springs eternal in the Dragons' camp.
Sunday had begun less than promisingly as the Dragons were taken to triple overtime by Lionville only to fall 2-1.
The Dragons had seen Conor Bradley make an immediate impact by scoring a goal, and had had a second called back in regulation when Danny Lyons handled the ball just before Joe Ghisu finished cleanly on a corner kick taken by Noah Cordrey.
But in the day's second match, the Dragons were hitting on all cylinders.
Cordrey, guest-player Sean Connelly, Tate Gallagher _ back from injury the day before _ and Matthias Chernitsky all found the back of the net for the Dragons.
The Dragons will be looking to build on what success they were able to achieve at West-Mont, as they face a stiff challenge this fall in moving up to Division 2.
