Cordrey had his initial effort saved, but got another try at it as the rebound came straight to him and all he had to do was tap in from very close range.
Haverford did not let up and pressured United further. Higgins, as well as Matthias Chernitsky each had efforts either saved or narrowly miss in the 15th minute.
And Conor Bradley was denied what looked to be a certain goal when his deft chip was barely pushed over the bar as the United keeper got the slightest of touches on a great effort.
Bradley was unlucky not to have scored in the 23rd and 30th minutes as his right-footed shots were saved.
