The Haverford Dragons dropped their first match of the season today in a hard-fought match in which both teams had plenty of chances, but Haverford could not convert.
Danny Lyons kept Lower Merion out on several occassions, and a handful of scoring chances were nullified by offside infractions.
The Dragons had opportunities of their own in the first half, but physical defending and alert goal keeping by Lower Merion made the difference, denying Haverford's attempts to get on the board.
The game moved end to end, with each team absorbing the other's pressure to ensure the match was nil-nil at the break.
Lower Merion found their way through when a ball crossed in from the right side gave the Dragons trouble and, unable to clear it, Haverford conceded the opening goal on 38 minutes.
