The Dragons fought their way back into the match and through a series of attacks, came close to levelling terms through the likes of Thomas Lovelace, Conor Bradley, Noah Egelkamp and Willie Fineberg.
Lower Merion pressed forward, however, looking for a goal which would provide breathing space.
In the 56th minute, they found one through a penaly kick after a Haverford defender was ruled to have handled the ball in the box following a corner kick.
The spot kick, well placed just under the cross bar, was unstoppable and put the Dragons to the wall.
Nevertheless, Haverford pushed with desperation for goals, as time was working against them.
Twice Conor Bradley saw opportunities go just clear of the bar to leave the Dragons emptyhanded on the day _ one on a ball in from the right side, the other from a set piece just outside the 18.
