Both teams were becoming more physical, and they had to fight harder for quality scoring chances.
But in the 52nd minute, persistent and industrious work by Conor Bradley down the left side paid dividends.
With some great footwork and strength, Bradley got behind his marker and dibbled into the penalty area. He found Chernitsky in the center who beat the Methacton keeper to the ball and made the breakthrough for the Dragons.
Haverford then nearly doubled their lead 4 minutes later when Bradley got free down the left side again, but his lofted effort sailed into the near side netting. The Dragons were, however, able to protect their lead to the end and take all three points to start the season.
